Written by Ruru ZhouUpdated Sep. 15, 2021

There are about ten regular trains between Beijing and Xian, namely T-series and Z-series trains. Z-series trains are direct trains that usually only have beds, and they make no intermediary stops or fewer stops. The distance between the two cities is about 1,200 kilometers. A trip by the fastest Z train takes about 11 hours. China Highlights can help our customers arrange their train trips between Beijing and Xian.

Recommended Overnight Train from Beijing to Xian

Z19 and Z53

These Z trains usually do not have stops on the way, but even if they do have stops, they won't take additional passengers along the way. So there isn’t any noise of boarding passengers to disturb you. In addition, the departure and arrival time is ideal, so it won't affect your tours in both cities. See Beijing to Xian train search

Z19  leaves Beijing West Station at 21:24 (9:24 pm) and arrives in Xian at 08:25 the next morning. A hard sleeper costs 255 RMB or about 39 USD and a soft sleeper costs 400 RMB or about 60 USD.

Z53  departs Beijing West Station at 21:18 and reaches Xian at 08:19. Ticket price is the same with Z19.

The trains are fully air-conditioned. There are four classes of accommodations on this train: soft sleepers, hard sleepers, soft seats and hard seats. The soft-sleeper cars have four-berth soft-bed cabins. Each cabin has its own TV screen. There is also a restaurant car with menus in both Chinese and English and a bar.
