Guide Map of Hung Hom Train Station

Hung Hom Station is set up for easy access with its large ground floor level open with stores and many exit doors. The large glass windows gives the space an airy feeling. Most people arrive at the station either via the two MTR lines below or via the bus/taxi plaza in front. There are four floors in the station:

The Loft (Second Floor)

Going a level up on the escalators or elevators, there are fast food restaurants, cafés, a bakery, a snack bar, shops, and travel agencies. Here you can enjoy food and drink. It serves as a public waiting room.

G (Ground Floor) Main Concourse

The platforms are on the lowest floor lined up together in parallel. There are three island platforms each with tracks on both sides. Two are for the MTR trains, and the third is for the intercity trains.

Bathrooms: It is worth mentioning is that there are washrooms in both of the two MTR island-styled platforms. It is among the few stations that have washrooms on the platforms at present (the others are University Station, Xin’ao Station, and Disney Station). This is a special feature of the station.

Station's Ticket Office and Entrance/Exits

Ticket offices: The Intercity Through Train ticket offices and the customer service center are on the main floor, Floor G Concourse. It is where Exit C leading to the taxis and buses is located. There are two ticket offices and a customer service center in the front of the lobby.

Finding the Right Waiting Room — English Signs Available

Once on G Concourse, you'll find the departure waiting rooms. You can ask staff members or other passengers for help in finding your waiting room. Below is a Chinese phrase that you can show them:

  • Chinese: 请问我应该去哪个候车室? Qǐngwèn, wǒyīnggāiqùnǎgehòuchēshì?
  • English: Excuse me. Could you tell me which waiting room I should go to?

Arrive Early

The Hung Hom Station is large and sprawling and a little confusing to find your way in. It is recommended that you arrive at the station about an hour before departure time.

Check-in time: Please allow sufficient time to perform the departure procedures and check your baggage, so get there at least 45 minutes before departure. Wait at the waiting room, and you are allowed to enter the platform approximately 25 minutes before departure.

Facilities and Services at the Station

Intercity Trough Train Customer Service: It is located between Exit C1 and Exit A2 on G level.

Restaurants at Hung Hom Station: There is not a great deal of choice either inside or outside the station. There is a Maxim’s Palace for Cantonese food and a McDonalds.

Leaving the Station by Taxi

The Taxi Dispatch Center is at B2 and B1, east of north exit. There is another Taxi Dispatch Center under the east helical ramp of North Square. Due to the heavy traffic on Hung Hom Station's North Square, there are no official taxi lanes on the street in front of the square. Taxis are not supposed to stop there, but taxis do go there to pick up passengers anyway.

The Cross-Harbour Taxi Stand at Hung Hom Station for going to Hong Kong Island/Central/Aberdeen is at Exit C2. Be aware there is a tunnel toll to pay along with the regular fare.
