He came back like “J Christ” — now Lil Nas X wants to figure out what happens next.

On Friday (Jan. 26), the pop singer unveiled his latest song “Where Do We Go Now,” a poignant slow-jam that poses its titular question to remarkable effect. Stepping away from his signature tongue-in-cheek braggadocio, Lil Nas X spends the entirety of the soft-rock ballad looking for guidance as he tries to see a path forward in his life — both personal and professional.

“So where do we go now?/ We’ve seen everything we had to see/ We figured it out, my love/ So where are we goin’,” he sings on the emotive chorus. “So where do we go now?/ We did everything so endlessly/ And only to feel undone/ So where are we goin’?”

The new track first appeared in the credits sequence of the singer’s new documentary Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero, sung over video clips of fans at the Long Live Montero tour as they enter and exit the show. The film, which originally debuted at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, is set for a wide release on HBO this Saturday (Jan. 27).

Long Live Montero follows Lil Nas X over the course of 60 days, as he embarks on his first-ever headlining tour. Amid clips of his high-production performances throughout the show’s run, the film examines the rapper’s lightspeed ascent to fame with “Old Town Road,” and examines how his new role as a chart-topping Black queer artist has fundamentally changed his life.

In promos for this weekend’s Saturday Night Live, musical guest Timberlake is joined by host Dakota Johnson and SNL‘s Sarah Sherman, and the quirky castmember is lamenting her “Oscar snub.”

“Sorry, I’m just still sad about my Oscar snub,” Sherman says after seeming down.

As Johnson comforts Sherman, Timberlake wonders: “Wait, what movie were you in?”

“No, not that kind of Oscar snub,” Sherman clarifies. “I asked Oscar the Grouch out, and he said, ‘Sorry, honey: I live in the trash, I don’t date it.'”

“You know what?” Timberlake says angrily, invoking the lyrics of the PBS kids’ show’s famous theme song. “Just tell me how to get to Sesame Street and I will beat his a–!”

Elsewhere in the promos, Sherman marvels that “three of the hottest people in the world are on television right now at the same time!” Plus, Sherman promises to bring “SexyBack” — just like Timberlake famously did on his 2006 seven-week Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit — with a “sketch where our heads explode.” Johnson is onboard: “That’s hot.”

Timberlake has spent a lot of time on the Saturday Night Live stage, doing double-duty as host and musical guest three times, as well as hosting twice and performing once with *NSYNC and once on his own. He’s also earned four Emmys through his SNL work, including outstanding original music and lyrics for his “Di– in a Box” music video with Lonely Island. Timberlake’s last performance on the show was in December 2013.

JT will likely perform his just-released song “Selfish” on Saturday night, the lead single from his upcoming sixth studio album Everything I Thought It Was, but it’s unclear whether he’ll live-debut a second song from the March 15 project or play something we already know.

This will be Johnson’s second time hosting, after her February 2015 debut.

Everybody loves an underdog. Snoop Dogg pays homage to his hometown of Long Beach, Calif., in the sports comedy The Underdoggs, premiering Friday (Jan. 26) on Prime Video.

Snoop stars as Jaycen “Two Js” Jennings, a former NFL player who gets sentenced to community service after a car accident. To stay out of jail, Jennings agrees to coach a youth football team in his hometown.

The Underdoggs was filmed at Snoop’s former high school, Long Beach Poly High, in his hometown of Long Beach, Calif.

“Poly High School, the Funkhouse, this is the most prolific high school in Southern California as far as I’m concerned when you think about the greats that have come through that campus,” Snoop said in an interview with the Press-Telegram, his hometown newspaper.

The rapper went on to name some of the many famous faces (besides himself) that attended Poly over the years, including John Wayne, Billie Jean King, Cameron Diaz, Carl Weathers, Tony Gwynn and Willie McGinest.

Snoop produced The Underdoggs alongside Kenya Barris, Mychelle Deschamps and Jonathan Glickman. Charles Stone III directed the movie written by Danny Segal and Isaac Schamis.

Tika Sumpter, Andrew Schulz, Mike Epps and George Lopez are included in the cast.

Drama and backstabbing await you in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, the highly anticipated second installment of Ryan Murphy’s Emmy-winning anthology series. Settle in as this tumultuous season premieres Wednesday (Jan. 31) at 10 p.m. ET on FX and the next day on Hulu, and there are a few streaming options for cord cutters to choose from.

Just like the first season — which focused on Bette Davis and Joan Crawford — the drama will delve into another very real, rocky relationship. Except this time it won’t be centered on two actresses; season 2 will be an adaptation of the nonfiction book Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era by Laurence Leamer.

From the first episode, you’ll be transported to 1970s high-society Manhattan when author Truman Capote (Tom Hollander) was at the height of his career after publishing In Cold Blood. At the time, he considered his closest friends to be some of New York City’s wealthiest women, whom he called “the swans.” With high society at his fingertips, he quickly becomes the swans’ confidante, but he ultimately betrays them in 1975 when he publishes a scandalous short story titled La Côte Basque, 1965, exposing some of his friends’ innermost secrets to the world. Not only will you be given a look into the lead-up to his publishing, but the aftermath and ultimately the events leading to Capote’s death in 1984.

Starring alongside Hollander is Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Chloë Sevigny, Calista Flockhart, Demi Moore, Molly Ringwald, Treat Williams, Joe Mantello and Russell Tovey.

Colman Domingo has joined the cast of the highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic, as he’s set to portray the King of Pop’s controversial father, Joe Jackson, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

He will be joining the “Billie Jean” singer’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, who was previously announced to portray his late uncle in the upcoming film. Nine-year-old actor Juliano Krue Valdi will portray Michael during his formative years in the Jackson 5.

“Not only am I fortunate to have a rich, complex and flawed character to portray in Joe Jackson, but I also have a front row seat for Jaafar’s incredible transformation. After seeing him in rehearsal, my mind was blown,” Domingo said in a statement to THR. “There is something divine about the way that Jaafar is channeling his late uncle. His talent and embodiment of Michael’s essence is simply on another level.”

The film will take on the musician’s life and career and will be produced by Graham King (Bohemian Rhapsody) and John Branca and John McClain, who are the co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate. Titled Michael, the forthcoming biopic will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, the filmmaker behind 2001’s Oscar-winning Training Day and 2022’s Will Smith-starring Emancipation.

Michael died on June 25, 2009 at age 50. In a career that spanned almost his entire life, the King of Pop had 13 No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. He first saw success as part of the family band the Jackson 5, and four of their songs topped the Hot 100.

The film is currently slated for release in April 2025.

It’s time to return to the slopes as the X Games Aspen are finally back for the 2024 season.
